Tips to Passing Title 24 Inspection

Title 24 Inspection:

  • During your Title 24 Inspection; please provide a company representative, demonstrating the all lighting control devices function, as they are designed.
  • Confirm all lighting control devices have been programed, by an approved Start Up Technician. 
  • Provide Installation and Operating Instructions for each of the lighting control devices. 
  • Provide a set of "As Built" Plans and a reflected ceiling lighting drawing for our review.
  • Confirm all "stand alone" lighting control devices are CEC approved.

Occupancy Sensors:

  • During your Title 24 Inspection; confirm all Occupancy Sensors are not Triggered from Outside of their Room, Zone, Hallways or Spaces.
  • Ceiling mounted Sensors, are not mounted near HVAC registers.
  • Confirm the General, Accent, and Perimeter Lighting, are all controlled separately. 
  • Confirm all Wall mounted Sensors, are not blocked by any obstructions.

Daylighting:

  • Confirm the General Lighting circuits are controlled separately, from Primary and Secondary Side-lit Zone and Sky-lit Zones.
  • Confirm fixtures dim or switched, as designed.
  • Confirm Day-lit Zones are correctly drawn, on the "As Built" plans.
  • Confirm Photo sensors are located in appropriate areas, based on type:
    • Open-loop: sensing daylight only.
    • Closed-loop: sensing electric light.

Outdoor Controls:

  • During your Title 24 Inspection; confirm all Time Switches are Astronomical Time Clock controlled.
    • Include Weekend and Holiday event programing.
  • Confirm Time Switches have battery back-up installed.
  • Confirm Time Switches have a maximum, 2 hour manual override.
  • All light fixtures; (mounted 24' or lower) are controlled by appropriate motion detectors.
  • Incandescent Fixtures with a rating greater than 100w, are controlled by appropriate motion detectors.
  • All Outdoor Fixtures are controlled by a Time Clock or Photo Cell.

Demand Response:

  • Pre-Coordinate access to the EMC or LMC System.
  • Confirm affected light fixtures dim uniformly.
  • Confirm your Lighting Control System is capable of receiving a control signal, from their Utility.

Certification:

Depending on the size of the project; (barring any corrections and a re - inspection) ELP, LLC will deliver the Title 24 report within one business day of the site inspection.
